Christa's Story

Wanda S.

My highest weight was 370 pounds. I felt sadness, shame, discouragement and hopelessness. My health was not good. I have had gallbladder and heel spur surgeries.I was in and out of the hospital for chronic asthma and I had difficulty walking due to arthritis in both of my knees. I was on several medications for these conditions. I humbled myself before the Lord and prayed that He would help me.

The Lord placed it on my heart to change my primary care physician and I did. After she reviewed my complete medical history, she asked, if anyone had discussed weight loss surgery with me? Of course no one had and I did not know much about it. She referred me to Dr. Leslie McClellan.

The day I met Dr. McClellan is the day my life began to change for the better. Both my spouse and I entered her office afraid and not knowing what to expect. We left her office with a lot of knowledge about weight loss surgery, encouragement, support, hope and joy.

Dr. McClellan is an exceptional surgeon. She is spiritual, compassionate, dedicate, and trustworthy. Her nurse Corrine and staff are the greatest. They go above and beyond for the patients.

I no longer take medications for asthma and arthritis. My breathing is normal and I can walk, run and play with my children. The weight loss has made a tremendous impact on my life, health, self-esteem, confidence and family. I am truly thankful to the Lord. He blessed my family and me with Dr. McClellan, her staff and this surgery.

After struggling with obesity most of my life and trying every diet with no long-term success, I knew I needed to do something else. My weight was affecting my health, family life, and how I felt about myself.

It's been a little more than a year since my surgery and I have lost 130lbs. Making the decision to have gastric bypass surgery was the best thing I have ever done for myself. Since my surgery I have lost weight and gained self-esteem, happiness, and a zest for life.

I am grateful that I had surgery. My health has significantly improved. Simply put, I feel better about myself and am able to appreciate life so much more. Dr. McClellan and her staff have been beside me every step of the way. They have been supportive and helped me through this process with patience and knowledge which has greatly contributed to my success.

Before I lost my weight which was 240 lb, I was tired all the time, my feet hurt, back pain, knee pain you name it I had it all. My life now is 120lbs. less, so are my pains. I'm happier, healthier, I'm more positive with everything. If I had to do it again "I WOULD!" Now I'm able to wear size 7 and 8. NO MORE FAT CLOTHES!

I used to weigh 529 pounds. I could not walk very far or for very long. I always had to keep sitting down. Life really had me as a prisoner to my body.I was miserable and very unhappy.

I have been on many various types of diets and exercise programs. I lost weight only to have it come back with some extra pounds. I did not want to try this surgery and have it fail like other things did.

I set out to research this bariatric surgery and found that it had a good success rate. Many people regained their lives and were very happy with the results. So with a lot of support and encouragement from my doctors and family I set out to do it.

The surgery is the best thing I have ever done for myself. I have lost 321 pounds. I can go anywhere, do anything; sit in chairs with arms, ride in a plane, go to an amusement park, play on the floor with kids, ride a bicycle and move things. I weigh far less then I did when I got married. I feel wonderful and am very happy that I did the surgery.
